(New Haven, Conn./WTIC) - Police in New Haven are investigating an incident from early this morning in which they say a pedestrian was struck with a motor vehicle.

Investigators say just before 3:30, two men were involved in a dispute at Whalley and Sherman Avenues.

Officers say several people were involved, including a woman, a man described as her new boyfriend, and her ex-boyfriend.

It was during the course of that altercation, police say, that the new boyfriend struck the other man with the vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Officers say the victim was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital and is now in critical condition.

Anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the New Haven Police Department Detective Bureau.
