Tough but true: success in the minor league baseball industry is measured in cold, hard numbers.

Since the opening of Dunkin' Donuts Park in 2018, attendance numbers for the Hartford Yard Goats have been off the charts, and that success is being recognized.

At a "World Series pregame party" for season ticket holders, the Yard Goats announced that Hartford has been awarded the 2021 Eastern League All-Star Game, along with the several days of events that surround it.

After delivering that news to fans and media, Yard Goats President Tim Restall told WTIC 1080 News, "We just finished up our third season. So, (being awarded the All-Star Game) really says something about our community and our fans coming out to support the team."

Restall's team drew almost 415,000 fans during the 2019 season, passing the 400,000 mark for the second straight year.

The Hartford game will be played in July, 2021. A specific date has not been announced.

The 2019 Eastern League All-Star Game was hosted by the Richmond (VA) Flying Squirrels. It drew 9,560 fans, a record crowd for the event. The 2020 edition will be played in Binghamton, NY, home of the Rumble Ponies.
