Hartford, Ct. - (WTIC News)  Democratic State Treasurer candidate Shawn Wooden today was endorsed by Martin Luther King III at a rally attended by more than 100 supporters, elected officials and statewide candidates.

King, son of Martin Luther King, Jr., said he doesn’t “give endorsements lightly,” but did so for Wooden due to his long record of public service and experience as a pension and investment lawyer, which includes more than 15 years of representing the State Treasurer’s office on pension matters.

Wooden said he was honored to be endorsed by King, who he described as a man who has spent his life standing up for workers and civil rights, just as his father did.  Congressman John B. Larson, whose district includes Hartford, also spoke at the event, noting that Wooden’s experience in pension fund management makes him uniquely qualified for the office of State Treasurer.
