Red Cross Employees, Volunteers Sent To Aid In Hurricane Relief

FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTIC) - The Red Cross is sending a more than a half-dozen employees and volunteers from Connecticut to Florida to help in Hurricane Michael relief efforts.

"They're going to be helping out in various areas including sheltering," said spokesperson Stefanie Arcangelo. "What the Red Cross is doing right now is preparing to work with government partners and local officials to open those shelters and make sure people are safe."

The Red Cross is preparing to shelter up to 30,000 people, she said. The agency has more than 2,000 trained volunteers in Connecticut.
