WASHINGTON, DC (WTIC) - Calling the current situation unfair and unjust, Sen. Richard Blumenthal is introducing legislation to allow those working for no pay during the partial government shutdown to collect unemployment compensation.

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill, including Sen. Blumenthal, are urging the U.S. Department of Labor to allow those federal employees currently working for no pay to be able to file for unemployment benefits.

Presently, workers at home on furlough are allowed to collect unemployment.
