State DPH Releases Latest Figures On The Flu

(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - The state Department of Public Health has released the latest numbers regarding influenza activity.

There were three flu-associated deaths last week.

DPH says as of last Saturday, there had been a total of 11 flu-related deaths in Connecticut.

Of that number, eight people 65 years of age and older had died.  Two between the ages of 50 and 64 had succumbed.  One person was aged 25-to-49.

DPH says the number of emergency room visits jumped last week to 10.9-percent, from 9.7-percent the week prior.

Also, 692 required hospitalization.  

The counties reporting the most cases of flu so far this season are Hartford with 525, New Haven 473, and Fairfield County with 272.
