(Suffield, Conn./WTIC) - Suffield Police along with the state Department of Children and Families are investigating allegations suspected abuse or neglect.

Police say they and DCF  are looking into allegations the school superintendent and other administrators failed to report the abuse or neglect.

The police chief was notified by DCF staff on May 22 and subsequently launched an investigation.

Police haven't elaborated on what type of abuse may have taken place.

Under state law, so-called mandated reporters are required to report any incidents which may place children under the age of 18 in harm.

Investigators say the Suffield Board of Education and the public school district are cooperating in the investigation.
