(West Haven, Conn./WTIC) - Two Tennessee men are facing charges after a traffic stop that turned into arrests for drugs and weapons.

Troopers say they stopped a black Nissan on Kimberly Avenue in West Haven a little before 1:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Suspecting that something was amiss, the troopers ordered the suspects, 30-year-old Xavier Young and 21-year-old DeShawn Robertson of Jackson, Tennessee, out of the vehicle.

They say Robertson had two 9mm handgun rounds on him when he was searched.

In addition, troopers say they found a handgun, a knife, 11 grams of cocaine, and 9.5 ounces of marijuana.

Both suspects are convicted felons, according to police.

Robertson faces drug and weapons possession charges.  Young is charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, and criminal possession of a firearm.

Bonds were set at $50,000 and $75,000, respectively.
