(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - Two additional deaths attributed to the flu were reported for the period ending last Saturday, May 4.

That brings to 77, the total number of deaths from flu so far this season.

The weekly report from the state Department of Public Health shows activity beginning to wane.

DPH says there was "regional" flu activity for the first time since December.

Each week since, the department had been reporting "widespread" activity.

DPH also says emergency room visits dropped, along withy outpatient visits.

So far this season, there've been 10,038 influenza positive lab tests reported.

Of those, just over 3,300 patients have required hospitalization.
