Unemployment Rate Falls, State Loses Jobs In November

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC) - The State Department of Labor has released its final jobs report for 2018.

Unemployment dropped by a tenth of a percentage point in November to 4.1%.

The state also shed 500 jobs. Labor Department Office of Research Director Andy Condon says while there were some gains in fields such as construction and financial services, there were also some declines. Chief among the losses were 600 jobs in health services, 500 in professional business services, and 400 in manufacturing.

Condon added the decline in the number of unemployed residents is the reason why the jobless rate fell last month. Over the year, employment grew by 23,000 jobs.

Condon says they revised the number of jobs added in October by about 1,500 to 3,000.
