(Wethersfield, Conn./WTIC) - Police in Wethersfield are investigating after they say a 13-year-old was assaulted this morning as he waited for his school bus.

It was around 7:30 that police arrived at the scene at Yale and Amherst Streets.

Officers say the victim told them two cars pulled up alongside him; those in one of the vehicles ordering the victim to hand over his belongings.

When the victim refused, police say he was punched and kicked by several teenagers, who then forcibly removed his belongings.

Police say the victim told them there were five occupants in a white or gray Honda CRV and two others in a smaller, blue Honda.

All were described as young black males around 16 years of age, according to police.
