EAST LYME, Conn. (AP) — Police say a stabbing at a Connecticut hotel has left a woman dead and law enforcement looking for a suspect.

Officers responded to the Starlight Inn in East Lyme at about 10:30 p.m. Monday after getting a report of a commotion coming from a room.

A woman suffering several stab wounds was found in a room and taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London where she was pronounced dead.

The victim's name has not been released.

Investigators said there is no threat to the public and they are looking for a person of interest.

Police Chief Michael Finkelstein says it appears the suspect left the area on foot.
