NEW HAVEN, Conn (WTIC) -- Yale University fielded a record number of sexual misconduct complaints between January 1st and June 30th of this year.

Students submitted 154 complaints to Yale's Title IX Office, a 20% increase compared to the same period last year. The majority of complaints were submitted by female students, and ranged from sexual assault and sexual harassment, to intimate partner violence and stalking.

The Yale Daily News reports the increase is attributed to the #MeToo movement, as well as increased awareness of the University's resources for handling sexual misconduct.
