Ray Dunaway: Talking With Coach Jim Calhoun, Head Coach For University Of Saint Joseph's Men's Basketball

Mornings with Ray Dunaway
September 19, 2018 - 12:13 pm

Coach Jim Calhoun, officially named the Head Coach of the University of Saint Joseph men's basketball team, talks with Ray and Joe about his announcement. What led the Hall of Fame Coach to go back to coaching? What did he miss about the game? What about the job opportunity coaching the first ever men's basketball program at USJ appealed to Calhoun? What is the outlook for the inaugural season for the Blue Jays?

"Basketball is basketball, the game is the game, the kids are the kids. They're going through an 18 or 19-year-old process of going from boys to men kind of thing. I'm excited about it," said Calhoun. Calhoun calls his wife of 50 years his number one love, and basketball his number two love.

After becoming a co-educational institution beginning with the fall 2018 semester, the university has seen a jump in numbers in both male and female admissions. Calhoun talks about how the West Hartford campus of USJ is an exciting place to be.
